G&H TB144 Trimline Plate Polished Brass 4 Gang 1 or 2 Way 250W Dimmer Switch.
To choose the correct dimmer switch you simply need to add the wattage of the bulbs you wish to dim and choose a dimmer with a suitable maximum load rating. For example, if you require a 1 gang dimmer switch to control 7 light bulbs, each with a rating of 50 watts, the load will be 7 x 50 = 350 watts. This means a dimmer switch with a maximum load rating of 400 watts would be suitable. Overloading a dimmer switch (exceeding the maximum load) can result in buzzing, overheating, lack of dimming capability and possible dimmer switch failure.
Our dimmer switches are available with 250w, 400w and 1000w load ratings. 250w dimmers have a minimum working load of 40w, 400w dimmers have a minimum working load of 50w and 1000w dimmers have a minimum working load of 150w (and are suitable for 700w low voltage VA). Underloading a dimmer switch (not meeting the minimum load) can result in buzzing, overheating, lack of dimming capability and possible dimmer switch failure.
All G&H dimmer switches are operated by a push on / push off rotary control dimming knob. When you switch the dimmer on, the lights will resume at the same level as when they were switched off. The lights can then be dimmed up or down using the rotary control dimming knob.
G&H dimmer switches are suitable for both mains and low voltage circuits, up to the maximum load as specified on the dimmer. They have a soft start feature and are ideal for use with mains incandescent GLS lamps (standard mains light bulbs). G&H dimmers can also be used with GU10 or similar Hi Spot Mains Halogen lamps (but these lamps must incorporate an internal fuse).
All G&H dimmer switches are 2 way. This means they can be used either on their own, or in combination with another switch to create a 2 way circuit (2 switches working together to control the same light circuit). Dimmers are available as 1 gang, 2 gang, 3 gang and 4 gang. Each gang will control an individual circuit and has a maximum load as specified on the dimmer (e.g. a 4 gang 400 watt dimmer switch can control 400 watts per gang).
G&H Brassware are a UK manufacturer of high quality switches and sockets. All G&H plates are manufactured to the highest standard from solid brass and are then hand-finished before being ultrasonically cleaned and electrophoretically lacquered. Antique finishes are air dry lacquered to achieve the antique effect (the process used for antique finishes means that the colour of the finish can vary slighty from switch to switch). The G&H stainless steel finish is made from 304 grade stainless steel. All electrical components used in G&H products are of the highest quality and are fully compliant with all regulations. All G&H products are covered by a full 1 year guarantee and come supplied with two screws coloured to suit the switch or socket.
